Well folks since there has been a lot of noise re. BHP valuations, thought I'll join the bandwagon with some simple math.

P/E 15x
Market Cap at price/share (in AUD)
Share price => 30.30 34.00 43.00
Mkt Cap => 105.9B 118.8B 150.2B
Est. Earnings => 7.06B 8.0B 10.0B
Assuming I got all the figurs right, if BHP comes in with net earnings of 8B this year then a target price of 34 seem likely. Now if the forecast for 2007 earnings is 10B then on forecast earnings share price of 43 is very possible. Mind you, all this with P/E at 15x.
