I think our market was taken by surprise as there were no abnormal volumes leading up to yesterdays announcement. What seemed a good idea at the time is going to damage both BHP and WPL together, when this happens trust goes out the door with BOD and mgt. Shareholders left out in the cold, imagine large insto's buying up on the hype of a big fat divvi, plus franking all to go down the tube with a flight of fancy from the board.
It looks like a level or 'boredom' in the BHP ranks - lets do something, anything otherwise shareholders will think we're getting big salaries for doing nothing.
