Unless you can name a current mining company with a spare 55 billion to spend, oh that's right that's just the current market capitalisation of BHP not the required hefty premium a buyer would have to offer. I think people forget BHP's relative size in the sector. I don't think anyone could buy a FMG (not that you'd want to) at the moment let alone a behemoth like BHP.
