The bible doesnt allow killing, it is clear killing and murder is a sin against God. Many important religious figures in the bible commit murder that doesnt mean it is sanctioned. If there are no mitigating factors they have sinned.
There is limitations to using your conscience as a moral compass. "Do not follow your own wisdom". God gives us a conscience to help guide us. Unfortunately it doesnt work well for everyone. Buddhists and other people who by nature or work have minds that are very sensitive and free of ego will have strong conscience. What about the young guy growing up today, loud music, drink and drugs, films TV and other media full of sexual imagery and violence. Do you think its a good idea to advise him to follow his conscience. Even if he has an idea of right and wrong will he have self control in all the situations he finds himself in? That is an extreme, lots of average people living healthy lives wont have the understanding to make the right choices.
