Confidence is scientific theories comes from observable, verifiable facts that match the theories rather than in our ability to reproduce them under controlled conditions.

What is a verifiable fact is that as physical bodies break down they return to the elements from which they are made.
(Psalm 104:29) When you hide your face, they are disturbed. If you take away their spirit, they die and return to the dust.

This is not universally believed. In many parts of Africa,sorcerers are often believed to have the power to assume the shape of leopards and pythons. Fear that a sorcerer can transform others into animals is likewise widespread. In western Africa it is held that witches can send out the spirits of humans through birds and other animals in order to inflict harm. In central Africa some will not kill an elephant or a serpent, out of fear that a dead relative may have been changed into one of these animals.
This has no more verifiable evidence than the theory that creatures of any kind can be changed to another. If all creatures return to the dust, that's as close as it comes to our having a common ancestor. It is much more reasonable to believe we have a common Maker.
