Contrary to the opinion of fundamentalist theists, evolution is not "just a theory" it is a scientific theory. Quite a different thing. Still not regarded as absolute fact since it's practically impossible for science to claim explanations of the workings of any complex process as fact.

FWIW and only IMO, both the religious fundamentalist view of a micro manager Creator God motivated by (often the worst) Human like impulses and those who regard that view as completely lacking in evidence and suggest that therefore there is no reason to regard the Universe as "Intelligent", are both correct.
However, they also both commit the fundamental error of imagining their puny limited comprehension can explain the mystery of Creation.
