You would think that if the bible is the inspired word of God the he could have done a much better job of it. Full of errors and contradictions. Great gaps. AC Grayling did a much better job.
Why is there no 2nd edition that could have corrected the errors and omissions. (That's a good point. Every copy should have E&OE somewhere near the front.)
In any case atheists don't need to understand the bible to draw their own conclusions about the viability of any god anymore than Christians need to understand the Koran to reject Islam.
