Want anecdotal evidence? Look at a geographical map of Sydney colour-coded for incidence of belief in a Christian god. Unsurprisingly, the further west you go the higher the incidence of proclaimed belief.ie the poorer less educated you are the more likely you are to believe in God. The political power base of the church is uneducated people. No wonder they're constantly shitting on wealthy people with enquiring minds; in commercial speak they're the competition.
