It's confusing because people are often talking in AUD but everyone needs to be discussing in USD as US is where Arcadium is listed. I think there are around 1.08 billion shares. I would be happy with USD$8 billion in this market: A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush! That is more than 120% on current share price or share price before after market rally in US (I think). My feeling is it will get sold too low or RIO will walk. In that scenario it will be a repeat of Anglo and BHP which is also not a bad outcome. I think they're looking for a steal, but maybe not and they're just starting super low. The market response will be telling!
At $8 billion it would work out to about USD $7.40 or AUD $10.90 per share. Before anyone gets too cranky, I think it's potentially worth a lot more, but that is the price in this market that I wouldn't be upset about and we are not living in the future and very few people's guts can be trusted to have a clue about what the future holds, especially those guts that led the holder to be hundreds of thousands in the redAnyway, I thank God for these people as they make buying and selling into them A LOT easier than it would be without them...greater fool theory.
