yes, it is pathetic. But, it's far more in reality. These are the goofs with goofy ideas on what really are 'capitalist' ways and 'nothing else'
and it gives us what we've got - a massive wealth and income disparity - the haves and have nots
and the haves have really stolen, for want of a better word - from the have nots
and this varying size by nation group of people - the 'flogs' as you put them - are enough in recent times and the present times in some nations to swing government
so their 'flog' ideas - are harvested and filter up to really grubby political parties - who hold up a mirror and reflect back flog ideas to the rabble - and reap votes
it happens differently and in different numbers in each nation - ie. Australia is different to some European nations - where there isn't a 2 horse race - and it's different to America where you have a society that's quite different to Oz - many similarities, but many differences
It seems to me that the places which are more stable and do best - 'all things being equal' ---------- meaning that one rules out some place with a tiny population, a monstrous amount of oil and they sit back and do nothing, just live off the oil - and they did a pretty good deal with it early -
forget them ---------- 'all else being equal' -------- the places that do better are the places that have better social structures and support --
and the one structure that really really stands out as a strong positive ingredient is - education.
A country or nation can have solid support for it's people - by having good social programs for housing, health, incomes for food - etc etc
and that is great - it's an obvious solid start - but, from there - it goes nowhere without education - and the nations that do the best - have free education - right through all levels (remember, in general)
there are the odd ones who do very well without free education - but, they are unusual --------- Switzerland - but, it's a quite unusual society. There's the USA - which is not a social success - but, has the biggest economy in the world - which one should think would have a well educated populace and that's the reason for it - but, it is not - it too is a different society and lives off war and does NOT share the profits of war with it's people - atrociously.
And if we look at the 'flog' numbers - there's no better place to look than the USA ----
Donald Trump is not described by many as being all that intellectual - but, he did certainly hit one mark perfectly - by either some kind of wily brilliance or by sheer luck -
he identified that huge gap in society in the USA which is filled with floggites, the peanuts, the wackadoodledoo brigade -
what do we see with them that are their characteristics - crystal -
we see angry, disaffected, uneducated
there it is --------- uneducated (they are not bad people, they are just plain uneducated and ignorant and very susceptible to false promise)
For Australia - IMO, it's an absolute atrocity that higher education isn't free - right through to post grad levels ------ free to individuals, paid for by the Commonwealth.
And IMO - free to ALL - that means free to any foreigners who want to come to Oz and study.
I would place conditions on foreigners - something like, if you come and you do a degree or more - then, you have to pay a substantial bond (unless you show evidence of high levels of performance and can't raise a bond) -
and that all foreigners who complete their study - have to stay in Australia for a minimum (maybe 5, maybe 10 years) post graduation etc - or else you forfeit the bond.
And of course, Australia must make sure that all of these people can be accommodated, fed and kept healthy whilst they study - and not at cut to the bone prices either
you do not get top performers in race horses by feeding them cheap hay.
As a population becomes educated (NOT job trained) ------- you get less 'flogs'
and political parties with 'flog' ideas - have a very difficult time getting anywhere
