Every government makes choices about how to allocate its spending.
If you give 2.6 Billion to other countries for gender equality, you have to ask
- How does this benefit the citizens I represent?
- Could I have used this money to better use?
- For the particular country in question, is there a more immediate need that I could help with?
I suspect if a little more critical thinking was used and a little less virtue signal, they could have come up with a better plan.
Yes some special interest groups lobbying them want particular programs (in which of course they would directly benefit), but it should not surprise them that 1/2 the country finds this ridiculous.
