I can't think of any president in living memory, Dem or GOP, who would have stood back and allowed Russia to use such force against an independent European country.
The plucky Ukrainians have resisted to their utmost but when the total available force is applied kone can't help but feel they will buckle.

OK, so it's apparent Putin is now unmanageable and likely not amenable to any settlement. But Americans must be wondering - unless they have all become saturated with fat and self- indulgence - what their forefathers and former leaders would have done. I don't think they would have sat back and mumbled incoherently.

The only light at the end of the tunnel is that wiser heads in the Russian government and military may have already concluded that a coup is absolutely essential to rid themselves of this leader who has clearly lost his mind.
It's not surprising that, when they follow Putin into a room or chamber, his bodyguards appear to immediately take a position facing towards entry/exit points. They are expecting trouble.

But at the end of the day, Biden is not absolved of responsibility for failing to take some serious steps to stop this atrocity. His standing can't possibly survive any more failure.
