Biden has spent a QUARTER of his time in office in Delaware: President has outpaced Trump's trips to Mar-a-Lago with constant weekends in Wilmington and his beach house, new analysis shows

    • President Joe Biden has spent more than a quarter of his time in office away at one of his private residences in Rehoboth Beach and Wilmington, Delaware
    • In total, he has spent 236 days in Delaware and the Camp David presidential resort in rural Maryland in less than two years
    • This out-paces the time away from the White House compared to his recent predecessors, including former President Donald Trump
    • Trump was often ridiculed for spending time at his private properties
Joe Biden has spent more than a quarter of his time in office so far working from one of his two residences in Delaware – a rate that has outpaced former President Donald Trump's trips to his home in Mar-a-Lago.
As of Sunday, nearly halfway through his first term, President Biden has made 55 trips to Delaware over the course of 174 days.
Outside of his visits to his home state, Biden has also traveled to the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland 19 times since taking office, which has spanned 64 days.
These figures mean that Biden has spent more leisure time away from the White House than all of his recent predecessors – including Trump.
Trump received a slew of criticism from Democrats and other critics for his frequent weekend trips away from Washington to his private residences at his resorts in New Jersey and Florida, specifically.
At the same point in his presidency, Trump had spent a combined 135 days at his homes in Palm Beach, Florida and Bedminster, New Jersey. He had spent 23 days at the Camp David retreat.
Spending 236 days in Delaware and Maryland in less than two years on the job is significant.
George W. Bush spent 490 days during his eight years in office at his ranch in Texas and Ronald Reagan spent 349 days at his ranch in California over the course of two terms.
If Biden continues at this rate, he could outpace both Bush Jr. and Reagan's time away from the White House in one term rather than two.
The figures of presidents' time away from Washington are tracked by the longtime unofficial statistician of the White House press corps, Mark Knoller, who is a White House reporter with CBS News.
If Biden were reelected and kept up his current pace of trips to Delaware until the end of a second term in office, he would far surpass both Reagan and Bush in time away from the White House.
