The US military/industrial complex is doing well now because "the west" collectively has sheltered under the US umbrella for 80 yrs. They are becoming isolationist [many say they meddle too much so that's a good thing] so nations must become more self sufficient and the US makes some good "stuff" while Russian stuff has been found wanting and unavailable anyway.
