Looked more like large bidders providing support and just pushing it to the next level, without needing to buy very many. If you really wanted to buy, then it's not very clever to bid like that, as it will create a run.
After the movement to the next level, they can then let it run on it's own steam. Happens quite often in the market. Nothing that unusual.
