    1) Governments have already tried to stop it. But I think most of them now realise it is here to stay in one form or another, and so, concerned that they will lose control (and the ability to manipulate) are now are more likely to try and regulate it.
    2) Many people have made 1000x their money on other speculative investments with no effort. Why do you think this is any different?
    3) As I have already stated (and as Satoshi Nakamoto outlined in his whitepaper), it is an alternative currency which cannot be debased by central banks. Yes, as it is still in its infancy, it does have problems and issues, but that it why it is still "speculative". With time (and the intelligence of the blockchain community), I am hoping these problems will be ironed out. Until then, I assume that there will continue to be volatility. Personally, if it does succeed, I think the world will be a better place... for everyone.
