    You've missed the point Jeeps .It's been a store of value since the beginning of mankind ,on occasions the only one they had , that in recent centuries could be exchanged for money .If you're deluded through the way that the world has gone these days that it has any less value than the currently disintigrating bits of paper that are exchanged for it then you're in for a rude shock at some point.

    The argument that you've put up is the one that's constantly put up by the supporters ,publicists and purveyors of the status quo who have a vested interest in seeing the current government management of currencies ,markets and trade prevail which as you might have observed isn't turning out too well.

    Gold can fall over ,sure ,but at some stage it must come back very strongly as the deck of cards and the illusion that we are all wealthy disintgrates.Patience ,nmy friend will be a good education for you .The baby boomers have had over 40 years of largely uninterrupted opportunities for wealth accumulation .Those opportunities will be thinner on the ground over the next stanza if history is any indicator at all
