The irony is that for the average investor it tends to keep you in a stock once you have had it for 12 months because its rises in price are worth twice as much compared to selling that stock and buying something else.
In addition we have the absurdity that you can make more money in some situations by not selling a share, letting it drop in price and then selling after holding for 12 months!
