MER is often lower for ETFs as well. I just looked at VAS and it says 0.07% compared to 0.15% for ARG.
Despite some supporters on here I believe 0.15% is a bit hard for ARG to justify given they're really just tinkering with the portfolios (and barely keeping up with the market) so I'm only holding ARG at the margins. Higher MER is a drag on returns so reduces desirability compared to many ETFs.
I've avoided the AFI stable for that reason and personally have found AUI and DUI better value for what's been arguably slightly better NTA performance (but I have to accept the lower liquidity and the fact they use a modest level of gearing).
