SANDFIRE Resources and Talisman Mining have begun a big four month exploration campaign seeking more high grade copper in the Springfield project area of Western Australia.
More than $A3 million is being spent between now and the end of the year, with work already underway. The work includes more than 30,000 metres of aircore drilling, and a diamond hole at the Monty deposit to provide a deep platform for downhole EM. The joint venture is hoping geophysics will identify potential down dip extensions to the high grade orebody. All up, the De Grussa and Monty deposits currently contain more than 660,000 tonnes of copper and 790,000 ounces of gold. All of the mineralisation has been found since the turn of the decade.
