United Airlines looks on the brink of bankruptcy.
Since the three main carriers on the Pacific Route from Australia to the US are Qantas, AIZ and United, then United disappearing would put a big question mark over price competition on this important route and may place a big question mark over final approval of the QAN /AIZ marriage with the competition regulators here and in New Zealand.
The 4% was merger premium evaporating....
