Big gains on the back of the Paris climate agreement, page-100

what I find most amazing through all this spectacular share prise rise in the last month is that the short position has actually increased.. according to ASIC short sales report it stood at over 10,000,000 shares as of the 29th December and even yesterday another 129,000 shares were shorted according to ASX figures.
that means 6% of the share register is short and if any kind of decent production numbers come out we could be in for a short squeeze from a much higher share price..
The persistent shorter has been around for a long while and has never appeared to have an inclination to close his position....
Surely there must be a trigger point at some stage! time will tell...generally i avoid stocks that are shorted as normally the shorters are smarter and have more info than us simple traders!
any other insights on this short position?
