    hi tigmeister

When "consumers do not get choices"? You mean like when capital progresses through it's natural tendency to concentration? and the loony right "libertarians" start jumping up and down about "real capitalism"?

Exactly tigmeister. They don't understand that if we let companies get too big and drive away real competition, then you have gone away from a capitalism system to a defecto socialism system. But instead of the state owning the means of production, a few cronies do. Banks, coles/woolworths, electricity, petrol. Do we see any real competition?

And I would like to mind another point. As our real incomes have been falling over the last 40 years because wages have not kept up with inflation, we should have expected a fall away in demand. But it has not happened? Why? Unfortunately our racist friends on these sites keep complaining about immigration. But instead of arguing on an economic basis they concentrate on race. The falling demand has been offset by our high level of immigration.
But I have been encouraged that the government has belatedly recognised that falling real wages are a problem.

And i would also remind Archimides$ that in economics we have another term called Pareto Optability (forgive the spelling)- which says that you cannot make some one better off without making some one worse off. So when pigs at throughs executives began to raise their wages to millions of dollars per year, how many people became worse off?
