    Great post.

Not sure whether tigmeister has got up to Lenin's 1917 Imperialism essay and later writing on this, but it's interesting in this regard. Imperialist and monopoly capitalism are supposed to be the terminal stages of capitalism. But moderates fight against that, earning the enmity of both radical communists and radical capitalists.

Radical capitalists claim that driving out competition (ten years ago that would be Coles/Woolies in groceries, Fox in pay TV or Australia Post in parcel delivery) means they have won, have total control over consumers, and have the right to charge what they want. Like anyone now trapped in the Apple way of doing things, with Apple's outdated and wildly overpriced phones and tablets.

Communists want this to happen. When capitalism is at its most predatory, the hope is that workers will revolt. So radical capitalists and radical communists essentially bat for the same extreme team.

Years ago, with a million WWI veterans invading Washington in shanty towns, Franklin D. Roosevelt saved American capitalism with the New Deal. Communists hated that. Capitalists like Rockefeller hated that. Ordinary people getting a fair go wasn't part of their game plan.
