The dilution is 1 for 1 reflected in the share price so you can't count both as a loss.
Any startup will have lots of dilution early on. If you didn't understand that then stock market investing maybe isn't for you. The alternative is to borrow but this is impossible or at least prohibitively expensive for startups due to risk.
