    1) Correction to previous GGG post:

Below are figures from the World Nuclear Association:

"Today, only eight countries are known to have a nuclear weapons capability. By contrast, 56 operate civil research reactors, and 30 have some 440 commercial nuclear power reactors with a total installed capacity of over 370 000 MWe (see table). This is more than three times the total generating capacity of France or Germany from all sources. Some 30 further power reactors are under construction, equivalent to 8% of existing capacity, while over 90 are firmly planned, equivalent to 27% of present capacity."

    Interesting facts:

    - The world will need greatly increased energy supply in the next 20 years, especially cleanly-generated electricity.
    - Electricity demand is increasing much more rapidly than overall energy use and is likely to almost double from 2004 to 2030.
    - Nuclear power provides about 15% of the world's electricity, almost 24% of electricity in OECD countries, and 34% in the EU. Its use is increasing.
    - Nuclear power is the most environmentally benign way of producing electricity on a large scale. Without it most of the world would have to rely almost entirely on fossil fuels for continuous, reliable supply of electricity.

    2) Importance of Rare Earths (Extract from 180609 Resource Statement):

The strategic importance of rare earth elements to the manufacture and development of many green technologies and consumer electronic items is now widely recognized, and with China holding a virtual monopoly on the supply of rare earth elements, the world needs new long-term stable producers to restore balance to the global supply of these increasingly important metals. The successful development of Kvanefjeld will ensure a steady supply of these specialty metals to European, Japanese, Korean and North American markets.

    3) The risk we all face:

    - Altough there is a majority in parliament that agreed to support the extraction of uranium as a by-product from mines where other minerals are the primary target. Siumut, Atassut and the Democrats all support easing the country's 20-year-old 'zero tolerance' policy regarding uranium mining. Inuit Ataqatigiit and Kattusseqatigiit are both opposed to the proposal. (Sermitsiaq avis Nov. 27, 2008)

    - IA statement (now current Government) - Greenland's environment should come before profits from mining, a leading Inuit spokesperson told American broadcaster CBS. The president of the Inuit Circumpolar Council in Greenland believes mining companies should not be permitted to remove uranium from Greenland's underground, under any circumstances. 'Why should be spoil our nature and our people's health,' Aqqaluk Lynge told CBS News. (Sermitsiaq avis July 31, 2008)

    Some thoughts...

The coming few weeks and months will be a testing period for GGG holders. The tip of the iceberg is at the hands of the policy makers, the Government and the people of Greenland. I believe more work needs to be done to address the issues of human and environment aspects, continuous public relations with the people and the new Government is necessary.

Interesting times ahead, Greenland, hmm, heaps of Greenies that is against U-Mining? hehe. Well, it depends how GGG promote the company and their future mining developments. Rare Earths will be the key driver; uranium will be on the sidelines. This could be really really big.

I truly hope that there be a happy ending for all GGG holders.
