They probably have instructed the head hunters who they want or by now have a short list.
They may already be past the first interview stage with partners notified of their preference for their input. Contracts may already be signed detailing agreed terms and conditions, agreed a start date and duration.
This process will progress fast if they have a chance to tie up the guy they want. Even if they are bringing him on board a year early it will not phase them. That's how it works in this business to get the right guy in place.
He may already be sitting behind a desk working flat out planning who else they need !
