Who would benefit had management held back the announcement? Traders might have picked up half a cent here or there. Net benefit to the company of a share price gain of .5cents.....nothing.
Weigh that against the potential damage from a charge that they breached continuous disclosure regulations by not issuing the announcement as soon as practicable.
