Not saying this is so, but what if a certain person was given pink slips in the US as equity for past deeds or ownership of something along those lines, what if that person now resides in Oz again, and wanted to convert the pink slips to an SMSF, because they know the time is nigh for announcements?
Not sure what the tax is on shares in the US with respect to something like this, in fact it may be better than what we have with our Capital Gains system? and once converted to an SMSF and if they leave them in it until they are 60 then they won't pay any tax.
