We have touched on the costs and how it works in the past in HC. Im no expert in this area and others feel free to chip in but from what I understand, its finally all about the insurers and what they are willing to pay for a certain procedure or aliment. EG A Hip Op can cost around $20 + K or so. A Knee Op might be $15 K, these are both covered under insurance, there will be an out of pocket depending on the surgeon and whether you go private or public etc. There are cases where PPS has reduced or mitigated entirely the need for SOME operations in SOME cases.

My point is that if PAR commercialises and can save even a small % of ops this will save the insurers not millions but hundreds of millions (do the maths), Figure One¹ below shows the rate is increasing, specially in the band where PPS shows the most promise. The insurers will be fighting each other off to subside this and the Governments will get on board too as they urge patients to not use current methods of treatments (Opioids etc) due to their destructive nature and incredible costs to society (both financial and health/addicitiveness etc). Forget surgery, just imagine what the effect on the Opioid crisis would be in terms of cost savings...

Yes at $1500 - $2000 its not a cheap solution, but mate, people will gladly pay for such a safe and proven solution, at least in the interim until something else better comes along? This could be years away, the window of opportunity for PAR should be at least 5 years, a clear run..

My opinions here. I dont think my head is in the clouds, Im trying to be realistic, I also know how long this process can take, hey, Ive been waiting 4 years already. I have a plan to slowly get out as the SP appreciates and if all goes South, I wont be wiped out (though it will hurt and take a number of years to make up for the losses etc). I also feel this is highly sku'ed from a Risk to Reward point of view.
