I lost some bets but who cares when what happened today has ended the stranglehold of the big two parties on our political system.
Independants are going to be deciding who forms a government and greatly influencing policies and in the Senate the Greens have won the balance of power so no government is going to be able to do as it likes.
The next few weeks will be interesting in the extreme as the four Independants hold some strong views which are radically different to Liberal and Labor policy. Added to that is the new lone Green member of the House of Reps. Life is going to be very difficult from now on for whichever of the major parties manages to form a government.
