Mr Oughton says people in all states are struggling to save money.

"Western Australians are much more comfortable with their overall level of wealth, their debt, their income and their savings," he said.

"Albeit, I must say that most households, including Western Australia, are a little uncomfortable with their level of savings; that buffer against the uncertain world environment."

He warns some people are actually going backwards financially.

"When you dig deeper into households you find, through the ME Bank survey, that about 53 per cent of Australians are actually not saving at all and indeed with 10 per cent of those are running down their savings," he said.

53% not saving today 10% of them going backwards
Not much of a herd left to push prices higher?

It is only a survey but numbers say it all.
