Personally l think the US dollar is holding onto its current strength with its teeth firmly clenched. Fact is US bonds are being shunned by a growing number of countries and the short fall is being taken up internally. That senario can only continue for a short time. The other issue is rolling over bonds that become due. While it was common practice to roll bond maturities over, more and more creditor nations are cashing out and repatriating funds into gold. This potential sunami of unwanted US dollars returning home to the domestic balance sheet has the potential to devalue the US dollar and create double digit inflation. It only takes a country like China to up the ante on their bond sales to such a point that spooks a whole lot of other creditor nations into following. That hasn't occurred yet, but as faith in Americas ability to repay continues to to erode inversely proportional to its propensity to print currency - a crisis point will be triggered. Thats the issue. Thats what is driiving gold now in these very early stages of a prolonged bull run. Anyone who muses namby pamby utterances about gold miners under performing or performing below past highs is really looking in the rear vision mirror. This time is totally different and heralds the beginning of the end for the current world reserve currency. Obviously it won't happen without a protracted fight and creditor nations have a havily vested interest in seeing the transition is as smooth and seamless as possible. The Yanks are broke, period, so don't argue. The interest bill on their current debt is more than they spend on Defense and growing. A rise in inflation means higher interest rates on debt that is already unsustainable. Currency printing causes inflation. See the death spiral.

This is the new case for gold. If you don't understand whats really happening, then tune into the hundreds of pod casts freely available on world debt and get educated. Gold will double in 3 years and it won't be going down.
