You're making things up to justify the earlier silly statement by Eric that no-one should sell stocks that have gone up "too much".
I prefer growth stocks also but when circumstances change sometimes you have to sell them. The banks in particular are a good example. Mostly a one-way ticket up from the 80s but a terrible investment for the last few years.
Every stock and sector is different. Making statements like "never sell a stock that's gone up too much" is just silly.
