They're probably waiting until VPG is removed from the ASX100, which occured yesterday, before moving back in. The stampede of exiting instos has created an excellent buying opportunity imho. Expect to see fewer sellers from now on. As for VPG itself, it seems to be a case of business as usual. I recently emailed them regarding their record low shareprice and got this icy response:

    **********************************************************
The VPG security price has been volatile over the past few months, as
have local stock indices and offshore markets.

We do not plan to lodge any statements with the ASX unless there is
something material to announce (in accordance with continuous disclosure
obligations). There have been no material changes to our business since
the comprehensive update that was provided at the AGM four and a half
    weeks ago.

The ASX cannot be used to give a running commentary of daily activities.
Nonetheless, on several occasions we have stated in documents lodged
with the ASX that "for the current financial year, we have virtually no
debt expiring and we have sufficient funds to cover all business and
    debt commitments in FY09."
    ***********************************************************

...so things can't be as bad as the sp suggests.

    DYOR.
