All larger investors or those going thru a broker uses bots to do their trades. As brokers always pay a percentage of value for trading (no minimum fee) they can buy or sell in tiny increments.
The bots are just doing this - I want to buy/sell 1,000,000 shares over 3 weeks. Execute those trades in small parcels over that time so the VWAP (volume weighted average price) remains as stable as possible. The more illiquid the stock the smaller the value of the trades so as to prevent spiking.
The bot trading is irrelevant and just noise for conspiracy theorists.
