To be honest it all depends on how long the issue lasted for and how often it happens. If this is the first time the eftpos crashed then it may not be a huge issue for the long term. However if it happens again in the short to medium term then we have a problem.
I think the last major issue with telstra was a mobile outage or 2 was 6 or 12 months ago?
I am not trying to be defensive but asking does this happen in other countries as things are going to be always more complex when we transfer to mobile or eftpos pay. I would always feel uncomfortable if I don't have some cash just in case. I always remember back 15 years ago when I was at university the eftpos or AMEX system at Caltex petrol station I worked at would go offline.
