IMO FAR's management have played this all wrong.
They were caught out with WPL's announcement from the start even though they knew COP's share was up for sale.
When COP opened their data room up for interested parties FAR would have to have known and I am even a little surprised if FAR would not be privy to their data room as well.

The late trading halt called by FAR after the event and letting trade in its shares go on unabated for awhile would tell me management are a bit amateurish to say the least.

Worse still FAR never even congratulated WPL in being part of the j/v when they did finally make a release.
All they did was make a half a**ed acknowledgement that they knew WPL might have been interested.
I would say many red faces would be the norm that morning.

As for getting funds together for any pre-empt I would have to say the board would be totally clueless regardless of the personalities on that board.
Personally I would have to say they are off to a very bad start with their new j/v partner.
