Let's face it Aussie banks are some of the most profitable in the world. Interest rates are one of the highest in the world making the aussie banks in one of the most unique positions of actually making some serious money. Why wouldn't a hsbc, barclays, goldmans or jp Morgan want to control. Instead of the big four swollowing up the smaller Asian and auusie banks like suncorp or bank of Queensland. Bigger fish are the target such as nab, anz or westpac. Makes financial sense for the big players to be a part of the best performing economy in the g20.accc may have a say, but a bid will be enough to quickly change the sentiment of the feeling toward the banks. Remember they are also central to the success of the coming mining boom. The synergy cannot be ignored in the long term. Watch this space, banks are in for a serious run soon. All cheap ready to explode.
