The USA is still a bottom up form of government, unlike ours where the Queen gives us tranches of her ultimate power.
Despite this - the Democratic Party instinct, though is to invert & subvert this in any way that it can, in concepts like less power to the states, more deep state (¿), greater globalisation, more post-modern linear striation of human decency/indecency.
The power of the Queen ► sure, a somewhat diminished concept today in Australia, but nonetheless a very Australian concept - that expresses itself in many other ways. Some-one is always taller than than us, and it is 'they' that owe us our rights, command our obligations & restrict our entitlements.
In the last years of once Europeanesque/WASP post colonial Western dominance - does this distinction, not define what makes bottom up Americans, Americans , and Canadians & Australians that other type of once Europeanesque/WASP namely - top down Canadians and Australians?
They expect to construct their nationhood, we expect our nationhood to be constructed for us.
Our cops have the intrinsic power of the Crown, and hence the copper's right to carry guns. Americans citizens have the intrinsic power of a free democratic people to carry guns , and hence they'll share their right with their coppers (begrudgingly).
So gun rights in our respective societies have diverse constructs (Being).
Constructs that are fundamentally different to each other, to the USA & to our very core Australian 'who we are not'.
