"The cyclist did not ring their bell as a cautionary safe practice. Where is the safety for pedestrians walking from the rear of a car...say if someone used the boot. Should a cyclist stop at every space between cars as that is a 'walkway.' And why would you cycle down such a path, even if it's a cycle way. It would be constant stop/start. How would a cyclist react if a passenger took their time getting into a vehicle. Or a taxi driver is taking a break with the door open. The inside is definitely not a thorough fare for cyclists.
1. It's a no parking zone so nobody should be using their boot or getting in or out of vehicles & if they do should be doing so with due care.
2. The vehicle stopped abruptly and a good distance from the kerb without any indicator or hazard lights in a no parking zone.
3. With the whole ringing bell thing does this mean all cyclists should simply repeatedly ring the bell willy nilly as they ride their bike much like a an emergency vehciles siren considering people are implying they should ring the bell to create awareness at sudden events that unforseen ie. like a vehicle abruptly stopping away from the curb without any signal and flinging open the door ? ? ?
4. Should a cyclist stop at every space between cars as that is a 'walkway --- there is no problem there any pedestrians are clearly visible & simple for a cyclist to account for vastly different to a car abruptly stopping outside of a zone and flinging the door open without warning.
5. How would a cyclist react if a passenger took their time getting into a vehicle. ---- same again clearly visible and easy to account for no pop out surprise.
6. And why would you cycle down such a path, even if it's a cycle way --- because it is to the left of traffic & being a no parking zone there shouldn't be cars there and it keeps the road free flowing. To flip that around if they where riding in the middle of road and got hit by a car or where holding up traffic these same people would be complaining that they should be on the left hand side.
The video makes it so obvious that there is no fault whatsoever to the cyclist.
