Does it matter?????
To me - at this stage -- I have to say that I'm bloody relieved that ANY politician in Australia is even awake to the almost stunningly massive changes that are coming -
I don't care if Bill Shorten takes what he thinks is the lead and wants the credit for it -- THE most important thing for Australia is that we actually DO something -
because if we don't -- we are dead
It's going to be almost mission impossible IMO to do the catchup that we need to get into the modern world - but, this is at least a beginning ------------------- just the recognition that smart things are coming
Politicians have a terrible habit - they want to be known for things - they need to be able to stand in front of brass plaques and have their piccy taken -
that's exactly why you see new hospitals built but, more trouble getting funding for schemes that work behind the scenes
With electric vehicles - it works slightly differently - because if the governments bring in carrots to entice people to buy them - every time those people walk into their garage and drive out - they realise the government has had an effect
but, to me - it matters not a zot - because I am grateful that they are doing this - it might not be a perfect plan, it might (will) go through lots of changes before it hits the ground - BUT
IT IS A PLAN
the other guys have not even realised this stuff is coming.
Only ??????? maybe 6 months back - we had several HC members who were telling us that electrics and self drives were decades away - wouldn't happen, couldn't possibly happen --
now, we have the NRMA saying that all petrol and diesel cars should be banned from sale in a very very short time - and, a major government party saying that they are going to force the numbers - also, major car manufacturers going one way ONLY - electric
It's only time before all cars, all utility vehicles, all road transport is electric -- ALL of it, and, the entire world is going to need batteries -------- zillions of them
for that - you need a plan - and, you need it in a hurry, because - you need to refine it and to begin the execution -
bad, good or indifferent - the entire landscape is about to change under our feet
I am hoping that Shorten and Co wake up and forget manufacturing and go for it with funding research - in Universities and the CSIRO or similar - IMO
that's where the future is -
the very place that Liberals have cut the guts out of over the decades

- bill reckons we are going to build batteries here
Does it matter????? To me - at this stage -- I have to say that...
