    what an idiotic mentality.

It's as if to say that if you disagree with the budget, then you MUST be for increased deficits for eternity.

    NO!

A person CAN agree that we need to start balancing the budget and paying off debt while AT THE SAME TIME disagreeing with the budget.

There are literally DOZENS of ways to balance the budget.

The option Tony and Co. put up is a pathetic example of tough government.

You want all Australians to share the burden?

You want all Australians to do a bit of heavy lifting?

You want all Australians to raise their hand and say "yep, I'll do my bit for the country"?

FINE! Then SHARE the burden ... That's what a statesman does

Don't start making fake enemies of people on newstart

Don't ask the elderly to pull their belts even tighter than they already are

Don't make STAGGERING cuts to health and education.

    Instead why not...

Decrease the top tax threshold from 180,000 down to, oh I don't know, 150,000

Close loopholes in Superannuation that allows some people to DODGE the tax office and pay 15% on their income (this is worth over 20 BILLION in lost revenue per year)

Close loopholes on family trusts that similarly allows wealthy families to further dodge their tax burden.

But no! YOU think the way to do it is to ask a 70 year old to make their measly $400/week stretch even further.
