before I turned 20 one of my first jobs was tele-sales for a "stock trading software company" based on the gold coast
the were the horse racing programs v 2.0 and redeployed to the stocks market
they promoted back testing results showing amazing p/l's
only it was all on leveraged warrants and spec stock with trades that were mostly technically impossible [because of volume]
and the strategies were curve fitted like you wouldn't believe
and they sold for $5-6k+
and then MD, I remember at the time, used to say, "so what of this doesn't really work, coke makes you more thirsty after you drink it, not less, it's the same thing"
I was a pretty stupid naive kid, and I wasn't there long, cause it wasn't hard to see those guys were crooks.
but you're equally right, I could believe how many people handed over their money thinking they just got a money making machine
