    Thanks staz024 - You list the Thomson Dam as being "from recent decades".
    I think not.
    The dam was proposed in 1968, construction of the tunnel to the west started in the early 1970's. Work on the dam started in 1976 - 37 years ago - and the dam wall was holding water in 1983 - three decades ago.
    Decades of green anti-damism merged after 2000 with climate change alarmism - is costing Australia multi $billions in permanently racked up water prices to pay for ruinous Govt investments in seawater desalination and the sidelining of normal engineering solutions to enhancing water supplies.
    Keeping to the issue in the thread headline - billions wasted on desal plants - IMHO Australians voted for a Govt who will do the best possible to repair the damage done to national water policies over the last decade.
