Not necessarily MD. GI was penalised against Manly in similar circumstances. (Though strangely Williams was diving for the ball and so was only a couple of feet off the ground at the time. Bit of an odd way to be pinged for a shoulder charge but it happened.) And Nathan Merrit was penalised for a shoulder charge (which wasn't) earlier in the year. Sometimes a penalty is sufficient.
If a defending player is offside when a try is scored, nothing is needed to be done about the offending player. I guess it's the same with Slater's indiscretion.
Having said that, I'm not trying to defend Slater as such as I believe he does manage to get away with things that others don't.
As for your comment, "It comes down to definition of a shoulder charge imo atm and I'm not clear on it now, compared to years gone by.I maybe out of touch." I think we are all a bit unclear on it now.
