Big day for Broome County: Binghamton University awarded $63.7M in Build Back Better funds

Binghamton University's vision to spearhead a lithium-ion battery industry in the Southern Tier is getting a massive boost.

"iM3NY just recently started production in Endicott as North America’s only pure homegrown battery factory. This will help it grow," said Schumer. "It will give them the employees they need. Everywhere across the country people are looking for what region is going to have trained workers that can make these batteries quickly and well. We’re going to be at the top of the list."Schumer noted the New Energy New York Project received one of the Build Back Better Challenge's largest grants. Just two projects were awarded more than Binghamton's $63.7 million, a pair of $65 million projects in California and Georgia.
