A company called Innodyn Aviation in the US who manufacture turbines for Turbo-prop aircraft were looking into it.
Technically, any fuel you can use in a turbo-prop you should be able to use in a jet.Their turbines can be run on jet-fuel, kerosene, diesel, and they were looking at bio-diesel.
trouble with the latter is that fungus can develop in it & most truckies using it put in additives. With the strict safety measures required for public transport aviation, the authorities would require intensive testing before they allowed its use.
