NEW DELHI: The International Transport Association will apporve biofuels for commercial flights by next year to reduce the industry's carbon footprint.
Paul Steele, head of IATA's enviromental initiatives, said biofuel would be certified "by the end of next year". Certification was regarded as a first step to eliminating investment uncertainty about use of high quality biofuels in aviation.
"Air transport now has the possibility of an alternative to traditional jet fuel," IATA chief Giovanni Bisignani said.
