So why is rice and wheat the star performers for 2008? Neither have been used to make biofuels. Biopfuels is a factor but as previously listed it is just one contributing factor. Personally I don't think it makes sense to turn food into fuel but it has helped to value grains and that was needed to allow farmers to try to increase production and efficiency. It was also needed so the input supplier could also profitably invest in production of the things essential for food production.
